About

We build the tools we wished already existed.

HLS Labs is a small product lab. We pick ordinary problems that people have quietly worked around for years, and solve them properly rather than cleverly.

How we got here

It started with a problem none of us could automate away.

Between us we had spreadsheets, shared notes, reminder apps, and a group text that scrolled too fast to be useful. None of it worked, because none of it was the actual problem. The information already existed — it was just scattered across systems that never spoke to each other, and nobody was watching it change.

So we built the thing that watches. That became familyOS, and the approach behind it became the company: take something people tolerate, look at why it is actually hard, and build the unglamorous engine that makes it stop being hard.

How we build

Three rules we don't break.

01

Facts, not guesses

The things software gets wrong are the things people can least afford — a time, a place, an amount. Those flow through code that is tested and traceable to its source. AI can write prose around a fact. It never gets to invent one.

02

Calm, not clingy

No streaks, no badges, no engagement bait. Good software reduces the number of things you have to check. It doesn't add one more.

03

Trust is the feature

Every fact shows where it came from. Every action leaves a receipt. We collect the minimum we need, and your data leaves with you whenever you want it to.

Say hello.

Questions, ideas, or something we should be building — we read everything.
